Teaching on the Edge of Understanding and at the Speed of Learning

We are excited to announce our Dine and Discuss event, featuring keynote speaker Graham Fletcher, on Thursday, March 21st, 4:30-7:30, at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord.  Registration is now closed and we look forward to welcoming all attendees!

NH ASCD is offering two exciting professional development opportunities in mathematics.

On November 21 and 22, 2023, Dr. Peter Liljedahl will lead a two-part webinar series on Building Thinking Classrooms for grades K-12. He will present the results of over 15 years of research into how teachers can transform their classrooms from spaces where students mimic to spaces where students think. In this webinar, participants will explore how to move toward a thinking classroom, gain a conceptual understanding of thinking classrooms, and walk away with specific strategies that they can use.

On March 22, 2024, NHASCD in partnership with NHTM will sponsor an on-site conference where attendees can choose from fifteen engaging breakout sessions. Joining us will be Dr. Steven Leinwand, Graham Fletcher, Kristen Hilty, Dr. Kevin Mahoney, and Karolyn Wurster.

During the registration process, participants can sign up for one or both of the professional development events.

NHTM is pleased to welcome keynote speaker Graham Fletcher for a Dine and Discuss event on March 21st.

There are many things to consider when we engage students in mathematics. What makes our task extremely difficult is that we teach a specific age of students that function and think in multiple grade levels.  This makes differentiation seem impossible, but it doesn’t need to always feel this way. Let’s explore how the purposeful use and sequence of the right tasks can unlock what students know and inform our next move in the progression of learning.

Graham Fletcher has served in education as a classroom teacher, math instructional lead, and currently as a math specialist.  His work with the math progressions and problem-based lessons has led him to present throughout North America and beyond.

Graham is continually advocating for best practice in mathematics by seeking new and innovative ways to support students and teachers in their development of conceptual understanding.
