Duties and Responsibilities of New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics: Middle School Representative

 

Ongoing

• Attend four regularly scheduled board meetings throughout the school year and Spring conference

• Represent the concerns of the middle school mathematics community in all activities associated with NHTM

• Promote the activities of NHTM to colleagues

• Write four articles for the Mathesis per year

• Co-Chair  Prevost  Award process with Post Secondary Representative

Mathesis Articles

8/1, 11/1, 2/1, 5/1 - deadlines for submission

Summer

Attend full day or day and a half summer retreat for board members to discuss and plan activities for the coming year. 

Assist in planning the Autumn Professional Development.

September

October & November

Assist at Professional Development (registration and flow of day) for Fall activity

Write a special insert for the November issue of the Mathesis

Assist in planning MS sessions for Spring Conference

Remind Middle Schools about MATHCOUNTS activities and resources

December

January

Attend/submit names to nominations’ committee (coordinated by President elect or Past President)  meeting to determine slate for board elections.  

Work with Post-Secondary Representative to coordinate process and activities for Prevost Award

February

Be aware of MATHCOUNTS sessions – attend if possible – report to board on results.

Co-chair award committee to review applications and oversee selection of  recipients for the Prevost Awards

Duties include  notifying President, preparing/ ordering items for recognition at Spring conference  (i.e., secure check from Treasurer,  Honorary Membership card from Membership Chair, coordinate ordering of  plaques) - work with Post Secondary Representative

March

Assist with  Professional Development activities, spring conference and regionals coordinators       

April

May
