Each year NCSM honors outstanding mathematics leaders through the Kay Gilliland award for Equity in Mathematics, and the Ross Taylor/Glenn Gilbert Leadership Award.  It is time to nominate for the Ross Taylor/Glenn Gilbert Leadership award.  The qualifications for this award are as follows:

  • Should be eligible for NCSM membership, but actual membership is not a requirement;
  • Have a record of significant and describable contributions to mathematics education, with emphasis on contributions occurring in recent years;
  • Demonstrate a concern for her/his fellow mathematics educators;
  • Use self-evaluation for growth and improved performance;
  • Demonstrate a clear knowledge of mathematics education, especially current issues and problems;
  • Have made a contribution to mathematics education by furthering one or more of the stated purposes of NCSM: the interchange of ideas, cooperation with other professional organizations, and leadership in attacking current problems in mathematics curriculum and supervision.

Nominations are due November 1st for this award.  


Please consider nominating someone for this award. This is not a lifetime achievement award, but a leadership award!  We need to hear your voices to whom should be considered for this honor.
