Textbooks take the joy out of learning and teaching mathematics—so let's learn how to “step out of the textbook” and prepare lessons that will have our students thinking, engaged, and loving math class. Inspired by Peter Liljedahl’s research in "Building Thinking Classrooms," we’ll examine some of the inert tasks in our textbooks and dive into practical strategies for bringing them to life for our students. All K-12 teachers and leaders are welcomed. No prior experience with Building Thinking Classroom is necessary.
